Bluffton Quarry
In January of 2007, Fort Wayne Rocks (FWR) purchased a natural stone quarry just south of Fort Wayne outside the town of Bluffton, Indiana. Having fittingly named it the Bluffton Quarry, FWR is now producing several types of landscape stone, including thin random (a flagstone product), web wall (random sized, stackable) and outcropping (large pieces). Also, veneer stones in the form of split profile stone and a roughly squared/roughly rectangular stone are being produced for the commercial and home building industries.
The stone itself is a dolomite (very hard) limestone product in the blue/gray color tones with a very small amount of buff mixed in. It has a somewhat irregular surface ranging from walk-able smooth to heavily textured (which is separated by product accordingly) and a clean snapped, varigated profile.
Having sold Bluffton Quarry stone for a number of years prior to purchasing the quarry, FWR is very familiar with the product line and has transitioned from simply selling the stone to producing it as well. This side of the business joins hand in hand with the native boulder line already in production, diversifying FWRs' quarried product line.
